would you eat lab grown meat?

cow.jpg

Dutch scientists and researchers are attempting to ‘grow’ meat in a laboratoty, to eliminate the need to raise and slaughter animals. The idea is to replace the need of livestock being bred purely to be killed and eaten, thus reducing costs for animal feed, transport, land use etc, and reduce hte methane that is expelled by animals.

(Thankfully) It will be years before this ‘lab-grown meat’ hits our supermarket shelves, as the process still needs refining.

What do you think? Would you be repulsed by the thought of eating meat that was grown in a petri dish?

YUK!!!!!! no wonder we have cancers & strange diseases, we were not meant to eat modified rubbish, animals that have been fed unnatuaral/synthetic foods, genetically modified plants etc.

Again the almighty dollar rears it’s head profits, profits, profits is all it’s ever about. A pox upon all those who bastardise this planet for greed :( , may their bowels rot and spew forth stenching toxins every time they open their brain dead mouths!!!!

That is just too weird! I hope they are also working on the development of the cow that is bred to be eaten like at the end of the Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. Lentils are looking good - and take so little from us. :)

And the need to kill animals would cease… perhaps if they can grow whale meat in a dish then the Japanese would stop killing these creatures for scientific research/ restaurant supplies.

I’d give it a shot as long as it’s safe… I personally think science’s contribution to food (e.g. GM food, etc) could solve a lot of the world’s hunger and environmental problems if it stays out of corporate hands, and as long as people always have the choice not to eat it if they don’t want to.

No way would I eat lab-grown meat, but wouldn’t mind a Big Mac!!!

That is pretty rank. And I don’t think it would solve world hunger (world hunger is not because of a lack of food, it’s just too many greedy people hogging all the food.) I can hardly believe that our planet can even produce something as frightening as lab-grown meat! Things like that shouldn’t be possible, in my opnion.

Look what they’ve done to tomatoes, we’d get thick skined tastless colourless meat, no thanks.

NO WAY - we do our best to avoid G.M.O.s as it is. which means knowing the source of meat and their diet. the meat we eat is from King Island and not put into “feed lots” just free range and organic diet with no growth hormones. If the scientists want to inflict their Frankensteins on us they must be forced to disclose its origin!!!
